Hello my beautiful and lovely people. I hope you guys are having a great day. Today I wanted to talk about my generation, which is the high school-ish age. I feel like we tend to get a lot of crap. We're always slammed for being lazy and always being on our phones. I happen to think all those haters are wrong, and I want to talk about why.
We're quite a compassionate group of kiddos. We want to spread the love find love. I've never seen people as excited as we are to travel to a developing country to go help kids on mission trips. I know several people who are pushing college opportunities back a year to do the World Race, which is a nine month mission trip to five different countries. People are giving up time and money and opportunities to help people who are less fortunate then they are. I think that's beautiful and meaningful and I don't think that our longing to help others should go unlooked.
We have an eye for beauty. We are accepting. We are finding it easier to look past flaws and reach joy and acceptance for each other. My mom makes fun of me all the time for saying, "omg she's so pretty" whenever I see a girl. I guess I just have an eye for beauty and I can see their beautiful souls shining through. We love beautiful things, but we find beauty in all things. We aren't selective about beauty standards, and have become more accepting and able to see that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
We had a childhood and we can successfully navigate a technology ruled world. I believe that we were born at the perfect time. We had the beauty of a technology-free childhood. We still learned and experienced the world without a cell phone in hand. However, we also learned how to successfully navigate technology during our teenage years which prepares us for the real world. We got to experience both things, and we're the only generation to be able to do so. Sure we make mistakes with technology-- but what can you expect when we're the first group of teenagers growing up with phones always at an arms reach?
We can create online communities to help each other. We always get slammed for always being on our phones, but quite honestly I've learned a lot more through things I find on my phone than I've ever learned in a classroom. There are plenty of bloggers (like me!) who can teach others. I've learned so much about Jesus through blogs and Instagram. I've learned how to be healthy through YouTube. You can find anything on the internet, and that helps us learn and advise each other, without even having to know each other. Scary, but beautiful.
We're avid learners. I'm not talking about school so much, because that system is a little messed up (but nothing that our generation of future teachers can't fix, right?). But we're passionate about learning about what we love. I'm so interested in learning about Jesus right now, and I take every chance I get to learn about Him. I watch videos, read blogs, listen to worship music, go to church, join clubs, and talk to my friends about Jesus. I'm passionate about pursuing Christ, so I chase after Him every second I get. Although everyone has a different passion, I know plenty of people who are constantly chasing after what they love, and I love that so much. I love that I share the same generation title as such inspired leaners and thinkers.
Generation Z, know that you are not to be underestimated. You are capable of so much more than we get credit for. I have a good feeling that we're going to be the ones changing the world.
Thanks so much for reading!! See ya later! <3
