Hello guys!! This is the start of my new series called Monday Motivation!! I'm super excited for it, and if there's anything you want me to write about in this series leave a comment on this post or share it with me on any of my social media. I feel like a total YouTuber with this little intro thing, so I'll just continue it and say let's get on with the blog post!
Today I have a dare for you. It's a triple dog dare so you're required to do it, but I think you're going to like this.
Today I triple dog dare you to be you.
Sounds simple, right?
But I'm talking about more than just being yourself. You've heard all that before. You've been preached at about the importance of being unapologetically, fiercely, and beautifully yourself. We've been told a million times that we don't need to be ashamed in front of others about who we are, and while I truly believe in the importance of doing so, today we're diving in a little deeper than surface level.
Do you actually know what the "true you" that you're supposed to be showing people is?
On some level you probably already know. You probably have a basic foundation about who you are as a person and you know when you're really acting like yourself and you can tell when you're holding back.
What I'm talking about here is living and knowing the full you. Living to your fullest potential. Overcoming the limitations you set for yourself. Being the person you were meant to be.
I'm currently reading You Are A Bad*** by Jen Sincero. I love the book, and she is obviously better at explaining these concepts than I am, but I wanted to touch on a few things she's talked about.
Our limitations from fully becoming the person we want to be stem from ourselves. Subconsciously, we tend to pull back from the things we want because we don't believe they fit with who we are at the moment we're currently in. For example, in the book, Jen was deciding between two cars. She had a sensible option that she could afford and matched where she was in her life, and then she had the flashy one she really wanted but she couldn't afford. But you know what she did? She went out and got the one she wanted and decided she'd figure out a way to pay for it.
Now I'm not telling you to go out and spend your life savings or money you don't have on a bunch of things you think it would be nice to have. But the point she is making and the one I want to enforce is that if you want to get to your full potential, you have to live like you're already there. You can't keep thinking, "oh well, one day everything will work out." You have to go out and work to make it happen, or else you're going to wake up when you're 86 and wonder where the heck your life went.
So today I want to motivate you to make the decisions that the person you want to be would make. If you know you're capable of more in school, then act the way a successful student would. If you're stuck in your day job spending more time dreaming about what you wish you were doing with your life than the time you spend actually doing your job, then quit your job and go start the business you've been planning and dreaming of since you were 14.
You can't live up to your full potential and your full self if you continue to make the same decisions and go through the same routines that the person you are now does. You have to live up to what you're capable of and you have to live like you already are where you want to be.
Instead of setting the bar high, we're straight up throwing the bar away because it's only going to limit you. Stop thinking you can only make certain decisions because those are the decisions that people like you make. If you don't like where you are, then you envision where you plan to be and start living like you already are there.
This isn't about throwing away who we are. This is about throwing away the limitations we set for ourselves that say we can only get so far. This is about living the life you've always wanted. This is about getting up and being excited to get work done because you're living the life you've always dreamed of. So write down where you want to be and where you know you can be, and start living like your future self, because that is how you become the person you want to be.
Don't let yourself suffer through life until you wake up one morning regretting not chasing after your dreams. Go out there and make them a reality. Ask people for help and do what you can to make them happen. You really only get to live once, so go make it a life that you can look back on with pride in who you are and were and with joy from what you accomplished.
Thanks so much for reading!! See ya later! <3
