YO!!! Hey guys!! How's it going?? Today's post is mostly directed towards the ladies, but feel free to stick along anyways!!
Today we are going to be talking about self-confidence. A HUGE part of this is not caring about what others think of you, and that's the part that we'll be focusing on today. Before we start talking about that, we need to figure out what "not caring about what others think" really means.
There is a FINE, and I mean fine, line between not caring what others think about you and being conceited. Not caring what others think of you means that you're choosing to ignore negative statements based on what you wear and who you are, and that's a good thing. Being conceited has to do with being rude. When someone tells you that something that you are doing is affecting their happiness, and you choose to ignore how they feel, then you are acting conceited. So someone making rude remarks about your laugh is something you should go ahead and ignore, but when someone tells you the their feelings get hurt when you talk sarcastically towards them, then you should take that to heart and try to make a change.
Now that that's all sorted out, we can begin talking about how to create that high self-esteem and ignore other's negative opinions about us!! We're going to start off with a story...
Once upon a time (2 years ago, in 8th grade) a young girl named Anna Cave was bullied. There was this girl, who will remain anonymous because I'm nice, who complimented Anna everyday on her outfit and asked where she got it. Seems like a nice gal, right? Wrong. Anna later found out that everyday this girl, right after she complimented Anna, would tell others that Anna's outfit was ugly and would then insult her for buying her shirt at Target. First of all, let's rewind because this girl really just tried to insult Target, which is honestly like the second best store ever invented. Since Anna knew that Target is a super fabulous place that sometimes includes a Starbucks so she can get a chai tea latte while she shops for totally cute outfits, she laughed at the girl because she knew she looked cute. So she ignored the girl's opinions about Target (because honestly, who even cares what this chick thinks about Target?? I mean, honestly), continued the rest of her eighth grade year in peace, graduated, and never saw the girl again.
How'd you like the story? I bet you wouldn't believe it, but it actually happened to me!! What a shocker, am I right? (I apologize for the sarcasm. Talking about insults towards Target must be hitting me hard in the feels today.) So anyways, this did happen to me, and I chose not to care. I thankfully realized early on that what others think about the way I dress or the way I act with my friends is really nothing that should concern me. I know sometimes it really gets the best of you, and it's easier said than done, but forget about what people say about you! Are you happy doing what you're doing? If you are, keep doing it. As much as we may like to, it's impossible to please everyone, so go ahead and just focus on pleasing yourself and the people around you who you truly love and care about. Anyone else who has something bad to say about what you're doing, is quite honestly irrelevant. If they are so concerned with what you're choosing to do with your life, then they should probably go ahead and get their own lives and talk about something a little more important. Remember, you were created for a bigger purpose than for pleasing everyone with your outfit as you walk down the hall.
I want you to all know that you are worth so much more than a snarky comment or a rude glare. You're worth more than the number of likes on your selfie, and you're worth more than that stupid rumor about what you did last weekend. You are beautiful and you are valuable, and no one can tell you that you aren't. You are loved more than you can imagine, and your outfit looks so good. I promise. I hope you don't mind the amount of times I used the word "honestly" in the post, but if you did, you can keep that to yourself because today is all about being unapologetically OURSELVES!!! I love you all and I hope you have an amazing week, and I'll be praying for some successful finals for you guys!!
Thanks so much for reading!! See ya later! <3
