Hello beautiful people! Today we are going to be talking about body image. After looking at some of the responses from my survey, I knew it was a topic that needed to be talked about. A lot of you guys probably struggle with body image, and I do too. It's very difficult to deal with the insecurities that come from your body, especially in the middle and high school years. Today I'm going to give you guys a little pep talk in hopes of getting you guys to think more positively about your bodies, so let's jump in!
So first off, we all have insecurities. Some of us may have more than others, but we definitely all have something that really rains on our parade. Having insecurities is normal, but letting them take us over is not. I feel like we've all gone through a time where our insecurities completely took over us and shut us down. A lot of insecurities come from the physical aspects of your self. Something that shuts me down is seeing someone who I think is prettier than me. I'll see someone and shame myself for not being as skinny as them, or for not having their color hair, or for not being able to do my makeup as well as them. I'll look at someone and wish that I looked like them. I feel like I'm not as beautiful because we look different. Anyone else know the feeling?
Here's the thing: just because you're different doesn't mean you aren't beautiful. I saw a post about this on Tumblr and I want to share it with you.
This really changed my way of thinking. You don't have to look like the people you find beautiful. You're beautiful in your own skin. Everyone's definition of beauty is different. Maybe you don't think you're beautiful, but someone else is constantly wishing that they looked like you. I'm encouraging you guys to look at your insecurities and realize that those are the exact things that make you beautiful. You're differences set you apart from others. You can be a beautiful without looking a certain way. You don't have to match the societal standard of "pretty" in order to be beautiful. If everyone looked the same, the world would be so boring.
I find beauty in imperfections. We as humans are imperfect. We all have beautiful qualities in each and everyone of us, so let's own them and make sure the world knows that we're beautiful. If you're radiating with confidence about who you are and what you look like, you'll be unstoppable.
I tried to not make this super cheesy, and I know it ended up like that, but I promise you that each and every word of this is absolutely true and that I 100% believe all of it. Try to read it openly and take it to heart. Your homework for today is to listen to the song Different by James TW. I've been listening to it on repeat the whole time I've been writing this and I want to share it with you guys too. I love you all and I hope you have a fantastic day! Remember to love your differences because they really do make you special and beautiful and amazing!!!
Thanks so much for reading!! See ya later! <3
